Brain Child

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Like any great work of art, after the awe of the initial viewing wears off, the mind is left to wonder “how did this all come about?”. Search no more, my friends. Things were bottled up tight during the Beard site development (minus a few attempts by CS to let the cat out of the bag early), but thanks to the extreme sneakiness of some members of the team, we were able to capture behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the Beard website.

Exclusive film can be seen after skipping the intro here - beard.blueion.com

hint: play around with the red signs…

Covering Your Tails

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Amid all the hub-bub of the shave-o-matic premiere we managed to release a new starter site/blog for VetCareComplete, a new pet health insurance company in Richmond, VA. Because they were just coming out of the blocks we were able to help with overall brand planning, the new identity and tagline and the stage 1 site. The blog will be the basis of a community platform, while a companion site will rollout once the insurance plans are finalized and the company is ready to begin servicing customers and affiliate vets. In the meantime, look for true life stories from the founders (practicing veterinarians) about the crazy things pets get themselves into and therefore the reason they need comprehensive health insurance (just like their owners). Thanks to Matt, Keith and A.J.

There’s No “My” In “We”

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

It’s about time that all the internet-related “my” hype dies. Isn’t the “Me Decade” supposed to be over? Wasn’t that the 80s or 90s? Together, WE can end the MYbrandname.com trend. It’s not really just your brand anyway, is it?

So, here’s to more “we” in our lives. We = community, connections, social networks, etc. I like Al Gore’s new We Can Solve It campaign to end global warming. It’s important, hip, positive and even looks fun. Me is just a backwards and upside version of we anyway. And most of all, we is something we can do together.

Get Ready for Caviar & Bananas

Friday, May 16th, 2008

At lunch today we dropped in our friends at Caviar & Bananas market. Margaret, Kris and the team are in the final stages of set up…getting ready for Monday’s grand opening. The place looks awesome, and the food and drink selections are mouth watering. Downtown has been waiting too long for a market/cafe like this.

Congrats to the C&B family and be sure to stop by on Monday to check it out. In fact, stop by everyday to indulge your senses.

Photo Shoot BTS

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Spent all day yesterday at a photo shoot for a new website we’re working on for an assisted living community. Bishop Gadsden is more like a swanky resort than you’d imagine. We stayed so long we had the residents calling us by first name towards late afternoon.

I brought along my camera to capture the process from our perspective. As you can see, Brennan spends most of his time just laying around.

Brand Perception Tool

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Having fun with Noah Brier’s latest application….Brand Tags. It’s simple and fun, and actually an interesting little brand research/feedback tool. You see a brand/logo…and then type in the first word you associate with that brand. Then check what everyone else thinks through a tag cloud. Some results are funny, some are downright scary.

At top is part of the tag cloud for Hello Kitty.

Allen Plaza Launch

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Last week marked the launch of a new site for Allen Plaza – A massive, $2 billion development in the heart of downtown Atlanta.  The new downtown neighborhood will consist of hotels, residential units, parks, trendy restaurants, sidewalk cafés and office buildings - the centerpiece being 50 Allen Plaza, the tallest and most visible building on the Atlanta skyline. Oh… and a huge, 3,500 sq.ft. digital billboard that will sit on the freeway at the edge of it all.

We developed a site to share the experience and introduce this monumental project.  Big thanks to Resource, especially LW, for making it all happen.

Folbot

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Launched another great site this week for Folbot. They’ve been making folding kayaks since 1933. If you’re not hip to the folding kayak scene, just think of it like a collapsible tent. The great thing about these boats is they break down to fit inside a bag - perfect for keeping in the trunk of your car for impromptu paddle sessions or as checked baggage when you travel. They go together in around 15 minutes and people regularly take the larger models out on weeks-long excursions.

Poke around the site - we tried out a bunch of new technology on this one, and we’re really pleased with how it came out.

Green Homes at the Greenbrier

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Launched another site this week - Green Homes at the Greenbrier. It’s all about conservation and sustainability in a new neighborhood in WV. This was a hybrid project between us and a few others (check out the players here).

Speaking as a producer, this website is most notable because of it’s timeframe… from concept to reality in 2 weeks. We hit that thanks to a solid plan, all assets in hand and slick design. Oh to have them all work this way.

Gold stars to DZ, AB, and BD for making this happen so amazingly well.
