Get Ready for The Pacific

MH found a video teaser for the upcoming HBO mini-series The Pacific, now in production and premiering in either Fall 09 or Spring 10 (let’s hope for 09). It’s produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman, the creative team behind the awesome HBO miniseries Band of Brothers (one of my top 2 movies of all time…hard for me to pick between that and Rushmore. I think I’ve watched all the BOB episodes at least 50 times each, including one Blue Ion company-wide viewing).

While BOB focused on the 101st Airborne and its infamous Easy Company, The Pacific (according to the HBO news release) will follow the experiences of three U.S. Marines across the Pacific theater. Taking them from the jungles of Guadalcanal, through the rain forests of Cape Gloucester, across the blasted coral strongholds of Peleliu, up the black sand terraces of Iwo Jima, through the killing fields of Okinawa, to the triumphant, yet uneasy, return home after V-J Day.

Stay tuned. Sorry for the lack of video teaser…but HBO clamped down on all postings.

Don’t forget about the Tarantino WWII movie coming out called Inglourious Basterds.

Inglorious movie will be good, fun and typical Taratino, but looks incredibly fictionalized. Good, but don’t expect any WWII accuracy.
