Park(ing) Day is Tomorrow

By robert | September 18, 2008

For those of you in Charleston tomorrow (Friday, September 19), stop by the Park(ing) Day event near the downtown Market…in front of Anson Restaurant, near the corner of Anson and Market Streets.

Park(ing) Day is a national event where public space, usually in the form of parking spaces, are reimagined as mini public parks. It’s all meant to highlight the joy of and need for more urban parks. The Trust for Public Land is a national sponsor…and locally they have joined forces with the following partners to pull it all off:

City of Charleston
Design Works
I’On Group
Carolina Fresh Farms
Stono Market
Down To Earth
Alpha Dog Omega Cat
Import and Vintage Repairs

They’ll be out there from 10 am to 3pm. And special thanks to Johnny Pundt for his poster and t-shirt artwork.

Thanks Robert. Thanks to all those listed as well as Lowe’s of James Island, and Cross Seed in West Ashley.

This community has been more than generous in supplying materials, time, and energy for this event. I think it means everyone loves parks…

See you tomorrow at Park(ing) Day! I’ll be there at 8 am slinging sod…
