Get Ready for Caviar & Bananas

By robert | May 16, 2008

At lunch today we dropped in our friends at Caviar & Bananas market. Margaret, Kris and the team are in the final stages of set up…getting ready for Monday’s grand opening. The place looks awesome, and the food and drink selections are mouth watering. Downtown has been waiting too long for a market/cafe like this.

Congrats to the C&B family and be sure to stop by on Monday to check it out. In fact, stop by everyday to indulge your senses.

They need some experienced chefs!! I went there last week, had the duck egg roll which was bland, although the dipping sauce was ok. Had a prepared black bean salad that tasted like electricity when it went in my mouth, It Was Bad! Yuck! what if the chefs tasted the food before they put it out for sale. Then they might be on to somthing. If I’m walking downtown I’d stop again, but since I’m usually driving it’s not worth the hunt for parking, when H.T. and Whole foods have plenty of parking.

I love love love this place. Not only can you stop in and pick up a fantastic dinner to go but the atmosphere is so metropolitan. Talk to Chef Mike Black at the cheese department and you will have the perfect pairing of wine and cheese for any budget. I think this is just what Charleston needed to jump into the “big city” dining arena. If you haven’t been there go and if you have then look for me!!!!
