ProAm iPod Ad

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

An 18-year-old Apple loyalist from England made an impact on the YouTube world and Apple execs when he crafted a home made TV spot for the new iPod Touch using promotional video pulled from the company’s website (and Final Cut Pro). It earned 4 star reviews from the YouTube community…and he earned an email from Apple marketing execs expressing their approval of the work and a desire to collaborate. After a field trip to Chiat Day’s office in LA and a healthy check from Apple to compensate him for ideas and input, a new “professional” spot was produced by the agency and student and aired on TV last weekend.

It’s an interesting wrinkle on the consumer generated advertising/content movement….a true collaboration between the “pros” and the “ams.” The tools are out there for anyone to jump in and participate (via video, web, photo, writing, etc.) and smart brands are embracing those that show a bit of talent and passion.

Happy Birthoween

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Under the guise of a surprise birthday party for CS a surprise birthday party for RY was pulled off without a hitch this Sat night. Given that the actual dob is 10.31 the costumes were full force…as were the sounds of W.B.C. featuring Mc PIP and Ice Tre’.

Here’s a little taste…

World’s Biggest Ad

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Only a country like Dubai would set up advertising like this. It’s targeted at airplane travelers, so the ads have to be approximately 5 acres in size. I wonder how big that photoshop file is?

Are YOU ready to PUKE!?

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

I SAID.. “ARE YOU READY TO PUKE?!” …. [ cheers of approval ]

So, a few months ago, RY was on his way to Florida, when he decided to stop and play in his soccer game that he was supposed to miss. 10 minutes into the game, just as he was receiving a pass in front of the net, a punk ass goalkeeper, with no regard for clean play, dove into his knee to block the ball before he received it.
The result: A popping sound -> ACL and MCL tears

Two months later, RY goes under to have a cadaver tendon put in to repair the ACL. The above presentation is an excerpt from his actual surgery. That’s one sexy knee!

Watch and learn. Soon YOU TOO can perform your own knee surgeries!

The fortunate part of all this is, during this procedure, the doctor examined the ACL and determined it started healing..only happening in about 5% of cases where it is believed the ACL is completely torn and needs surgery.

Get your barf bags out!

Joe To Go

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

From our offices overlooking one of Charleston’s port facilities we watch shipping containers come and go all day long….off the ships, into stacks, onto trains and trucks, and then all over again. It’s like watching an army of ants work a picnic spread….and the sheer number of metal container boxes is mind boggling. There’s growing interest in adaptive uses for these boxes….(here in town the American College of the Building Arts used them to store tools in its Navy Yard school facility).

Here’s a cool use from illy…the Italian coffee brand. This holiday season if you find yourself in New York and exhausted from the cheer of it all you can stop by illy’s temporary Push Button House cafe at Time Warner Center for an expresso fix.

With the push of a button, the container house opens in 90 seconds and transforms into a fully furnished and functional space with a kitchen, dining room, bathroom, bedroom, living room and library. All materials used in the Biennale house were recyclable or recycled. A tasty blend of sustainable design and pop up retail.

The Best Day Of The Year

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

All the calendarologists out there know what we’re talking about. Today is the most special of days, and the BI team stepped up to the plate and delivered. While RY would point out that every day is “boss day”…..experts know that National Boss Day is always celebrated on October 16.

It all began in 1958 when Patricia Haroski, then an employee at State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Ill., registered the holiday with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Haroski chose October 16, her father’s birthday, as the date because she felt he was an exemplary boss.

Here’s to Ms. Haroski and the BI team for their support and recognition of awesome bosses. Now get back to work.
